We want to contribute to making Northern Hesse even more attractive, more livable and stronger in competition with other regions. We therefore develop ideas and promote measures that support the economic, cultural and social development of Northern Hesse. We implement various lead projects in areas of particular concern to us: this includes actively supporting the regional energy transition, supporting a fairer distribution of opportunities for young people on their way to graduation and into working life, encouraging the arts and culture scene and promoting the city of Kassel as a university and research location.
Regional energy transition
The regional energy transition is a key concern of the cdw Foundation. Northern Hesse is already leading the way in the realms of renewable energies and energy efficiency and in the future, the development of the region should build even more momentum. Renewable energies generate more than 100 million euros in regional value added every year. The cdw Foundation initiates and supports measures that exploit this potential and promote the energy transition. It raises awareness for successful projects, thereby strengthening the positive image of the region and its future viability.
Arts and Culture
It is the cultural energies that move a city and accompany processes of change. The cdw Foundation strengthens Kassel as an arts and culture location by opening new spaces for cultural protagonists and supporting networks of creative people. Partners of our projects include institutions such as the Kunsthochschule (Art Academy), but also the independent cultural scene. The cdw Foundation is committed to Kassel’s cultural individuality and gives stimulus for cultural urban development.
Education, social affairs and health
The cdw Foundation is always working to identify people’s needs and aligns its activities accordingly. We support projects that contribute to equal opportunities and pave the way for young people to acquire a successful education. We want children and young people to develop their talents and personalities. One of our focuses is on building their enthusiasm for natural sciences and technology. In the healthcare sector, the cdw Foundation promotes the development of individualized therapeutic approaches and the improvement of patient counseling.
